FAQs

For Creators & Talent

  • The best first step is to join our community! Attend one of our free live events or sign up for our newsletter to get updates on when our next incubator or mentorship application window opens. This is the primary pathway into our core programs.

  • While many of our live events and our "Youth in Film" program are local, we are building digital programs and incubators that will be accessible nationwide. Join our talent list to be the first to hear about remote opportunities.

  • No! We are specifically looking for raw talent, unique perspectives, and a strong point of view. Our programs are designed to provide the professional training and experience. Your passion and potential are what matter most.

  • Our goal is to be accessible. Some programs are free, while others may have a fee, but we will always offer scholarships or stipends to ensure financial status is not a barrier to entry. Specific cost structures are always detailed in the program application.

  • You retain 100% ownership of the Intellectual Property (IP) you create. Always. Our goal is to empower you, not to own your work. To help you succeed, our incubator agreements include a "First Look" provision. This simply gives us a limited time (e.g., 30-90 days) to discuss producing or co-producing the project with you before you shop it elsewhere. It's not an obligation—it's a first right of refusal, ensuring we can continue to support the projects we help develop. We are always on your team.

For Partners & Supporters

  • Excellent question! Becoming a Patron is a philanthropic investment in our general talent fund and operational engine. Sponsoring a Program is a marketing and brand partnership tied to a specific, high-visibility initiative (like "Youth in Film" or "The Locale Lab"), which comes with specific branding and content deliverables.

  • Absolutely. When you make a gift, you can direct it to a specific program (like "Youth in Film"), our general talent fund, or our equipment library. We honor all donor intent.

  • We work with a range of partners, from large corporations seeking diverse talent for commercial productions to local non-profits needing a powerful documentary, and startups looking for a unique content strategy. If you have a creative challenge, we can likely help.

  • Yes! We are always looking for passionate mentors, workshop facilitators, and event volunteers. Please contact us through our volunteer inquiry form.

General & Company

  • It means our audience and talent are active co-creators, not passive consumers. We source ideas from our community, program based on their needs, and often feature user-generated content. We are built with our community, not just for them.

  • We are a hybrid. Unlike a film school, we focus on professional development and actually producing/distributing work. Unlike a traditional production company, our primary goal isn't just profit—it's to discover and empower new talent, reinvesting our success back into the creators we serve.

  • We're so glad you asked! Please visit our Youth in Film page (link) for the most current information on enrollment, schedules, and curriculum. You can also join the waitlist there to be notified about future sessions.

  • We love big ideas! Please reach out to us through our general contact form and select "Partnership Inquiry." We're always open to innovative ways to work together.

  • The easiest way is to subscribe to our free newsletter. You'll get monthly updates on our work, artist spotlights, and event announcements delivered straight to your inbox.
